The sweet fruits provide plenty of vitamins C and B. They also contain potassium, magnesium , phosphorus, sulfur and calcium. The amount of trace elements such as iron, zinc, manganese and copper contained is also impressive. The amino acid tryptophan is particularly healthy for the nervous system and is also part of the date.

Where do dried dates come from?
Dates are the fruit of the real date palm, the Phoenix dactylifera . It is an old oriental crop. The palm trees reach heights of up to 20 meters.
After around five to six years, the palm develops its first fruits. These are fleshy drupes. These dates hang in large bunches on the palm tree. Fruits can be harvested every two years. The palms are grown in large palm gardens and can live up to 100 years.
After the harvest, the dry climate in the oriental regions ensures that the fruits are preserved without further action. This is made possible by the high sugar content. Most of the fruits remain in the producing countries. The most important producers are Egypt, Algeria and Iran.
